• What is Asana?

    Western Perspective:
In the West, yoga asana is often seen primarily as a form of physical exercise focused on enhancing strength, flexibility, and stress relief.

Modern styles like Vinyasa, Power Yoga, and Hatha Yoga largely revolve around asana sequences designed for physical well-being, often with less focus on the spiritual aspects of yoga.

    Indian Perspective:
In India, asana holds a deeper, more holistic significance. Traditionally, asana is one of the eight limbs of yoga outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, where its primary purpose is to prepare the body for meditation and spiritual growth.

While the West often emphasizes the physical benefits, the Indian perspective integrates asanas into a larger spiritual and philosophical framework.

  • What is Pranayama?

    What is Pranayama?

Pranayama is a yogic practice focused on controlling the breath to regulate the flow of prana (life force energy) within the body. The term comes from the Sanskrit words prana (life force or vital energy) and ayama (extension or control). Pranayama involves specific breathing techniques that enhance physical vitality, calm the mind, and prepare for deeper meditative states.

  • But what if i'm not flexible?

No problem at all! Flexibility is not a prerequisite for practicing yoga—it’s one of the benefits that yoga can help you develop over time. Yoga is about meeting your body where it is and working with what you have, rather than striving for perfection in a pose.

In this retreat, we emphasize inclusivity and encourage modifications and variations for every level of practice. The focus is on mindful movement, breath awareness, and connecting with yourself, rather than achieving a specific level of flexibility. Yoga is for everyone, and you’ll find that with regular practice, your body will naturally become more open and adaptable, at your own pace. Flexibility, after all, starts in the mind!
